"I am proud that night after night and album after album, a mass of humanity I now refer to lovingly as the pop underground, come together and sing. Whether it's in theaters and concert venues around the world, in the privacy of our own homes or the constantly shifting landscape of social media, we are a scrappy tribe and we stand for something: Music that is found, shared and cared for despite access to traditional outlets; music that lives virally and through word of mouth; music that tells a story that people want to retell." - Andrew McMahon
The constantly changing landscape of my everyday has become more apparent as I set out on the road with Something Corporate. There is no question that I'm excited, but it's that kind of excited that makes you want to throw up every now and again, if not step into a time machine and survey the future (As to avoid actually throwing up). Tonight I will finish a gig on campus at Indiana University in the parking lot of a frat house, and quickly leave for New York to take pictures for an upcoming Jacks feature in Alternative Press. If any of this sounds like a complaint, believe me it's not. I'm a lucky person to get to be so heavily invested in music that I am able to work on more than one project at a time. It will be a fun transition leaving this huge bus and truck tour with soco, to hop in a van two days later with a skeleton crew and criss-cross this country on the first national Jacks Mannequin run. The details will be coming soon, so get ready to rock old skool style.
