This is so awesome. Especially for just a pre-order. Usually his stuff peaks and starts falling pretty quickly on iTunes within the day of release but it's just been rising all day and holding steady now. It's currently #4 alternative album, #29 overall album, and High Dive is #19 alternative song. I'm not usually so chart obsessed but this has been so fun to watch today

I hope it debuts really strong as well!

Brenna, I edited your post so you can see what the coding should look like to embed a picture because I suck at explaining it. If you're on the "edit post" or "post reply" screen, push the icon with the tree on it to get the image code and then fill in an image url and it should embed a pic for you.

"At the same time, McMahon began to consider the might-have-beens of his life. “I found myself asking, ‘What would have come next if I hadn’t encountered that bizarre chapter of my disrupted 20s?’ As I was writing the new songs, I was able to revisit relationships that had evolved or been dismantled in the vacuum of that disruption.” He adds, “It’s not that I wanted to erase my past. I wanted to explore it, to go back to the point where I had lost myself, where my personal narrative was overtaken, and move forward from there.”"

"“I had been dreaming about an album that sounded like this for years, but I didn’t know it until I heard it. It took all three of us. I realize now how important every piece of the process was - every step on the path and every voice in the room.”"

Halls: (outlines self-sabatoging tendencies in service of his career) "Cut my hair, and I found me a new girlfriend / Thought a broken heart could write a perfect song."

According to Wrecking Ball Heart (Jaclyn's tumblr)....

"If 10 tracks isn’t enough for you (is there ever really enough?) it looks like the Japanese version of Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness will have a couple bonus tracks. I don’t speak or read Japanese, so these are directly translated from Tower Records’ Japanese website (if you can correct the titles I’d appreciate it) and their album is due to come out November 5, 2014.

Does anyone else get super anxiety about that in the sense tha they're like OMG YES more andrew songs but also OMG how are those gonna leak and when can i hear them and ??????.

But I also kinda like how it comes out a few weeks later. Keep the good times rolling.

Yeah TGP b-sides leaked like, day of, and he has a decent amount of Japanese fans, they're bound to get uploaded. I've also tricked foreign iTunes before to buy international-only songs, if things get desperate

If you poke around google, there are some websites that offer Japanese iTunes gift card codes. So all you gotta do is create a Japanese iTunes account and put in the codes

I don't know if Amazon Japan will be an option, but that's even easier. You just need to create an account, you don't need a Japanese credit card or anything...

I got my TGP Japanese version off regular Amazon, but that was wayyy after the release (like I got it last year) but still...

Yeah, I'm hoping that there's a Japanese import on US Amazon pretty soon. Also, has anyone else been impatiently checking for itunes/amazon previews?? They should be up any day now...

I just got an e-mail from the AM store saying "We have made updates to Andrew McMahon – In The Wilderness ! Please follow the links in this email to get the latest version." and it sent a download to Canyon Moon?!?!?!?!

I love how these songs have been released though like damn Vanguard can we keep you forever? This album release has been such a great process on this end.

But seriously like itunes i want this new song and like i dont think you understand that its an andrew song and you cant just make me wait like please

I feel a little blasphemous for saying this, but after listening to Canyon Moon over and over this morning I realized that this album has the potential to top EIT for me. I never thought that would ever happen. Andrew, you are amazing.

I'm so excited for the rest of the album given the diversity/amzingness of these three songs!

Cecilia = really rich/resonant sounding voice, full, enveloping
High Dive = super fancy and more bare and just piano dancey (that's a genre right??). i think i meant super dancy at the start and my computer corrected to fancy but sure it's fancy.
Canyon Moon = haunting, sexy, his voice is just … umf.

AND THERE'S STILL
Driving Through a Dream, All Our Lives, Maps For the Getaway, Rainy Girl, See Her on the Weekend, Black and White Movies, Halls. Plus possibly Japanese import songs.

I can't wait to listen to all these songs all at once omg.
