"I am proud that night after night and album after album, a mass of humanity I now refer to lovingly as the pop underground, come together and sing. Whether it's in theaters and concert venues around the world, in the privacy of our own homes or the constantly shifting landscape of social media, we are a scrappy tribe and we stand for something: Music that is found, shared and cared for despite access to traditional outlets; music that lives virally and through word of mouth; music that tells a story that people want to retell." - Andrew McMahon
I'm feeling the same way. I think we all kind of are. We love that Andrew's kind of our thing or our little secret, but at the same time I DO want him to see success and I will ALWAYS be proud of him.
I am kind of in love with that. I don't think he coined the phrase, because I'm nerdy about words and alliteration and googled it, since I'd never heard of cafe crawling, only pub crawling, etc. And it appears to be a thing. But whoa, how clever.
I mean the entire song is absolutely beautiful, lyrically and musically.
Andrew used to tweet back all time and as his fan base gets bigger he does less and less Pretty depressing haha
I think the key with "celebrity" tweets is executing your tweet at the right time. Andrew sometimes gets hundreds of tweets a day, so it would be hard to find/respond to tweets that happened hours ago. Your best bet is to wait until he tweets and post within 15 minutes or so.
I also think baby business has taken up a lot of time, understandably.
He does do tweet sprees now and then, but he's a little busy right now! If you have something important to tweet him, keep trying! He sent me a very sweet direct message once and it was totally worth the wait!
Seriously! I know Andrew hasn't said a date because they are never accurate, but I NEED to be able to purchase this song/album.

That's not really a very fair comment at all. He's a new dad AND on tour right now AND finishing an album, so there are obvious priorities at play. Chalking it up to it being because the fanbase has gotten larger really doesn't make sense. He still sacrifices tons of time out of his day to interact with fans after shows in a way that the large majority of artists don't exactly as he has his whole career. Sporadic twitter usage doesn't even compare to everything else he does for his fans.

Being from the Netherlands, cafe crawled sounds perfectly normal for me.
Love the new music. I hope it means big things for Andrew. Both for him and for myself, since I'm still hoping he'll come back to tour in my country (it's been 10 years by now since he played here!)
it's being added to alternative radio officially august 19 itunes/spotify will have it then. i think right now it's just being sent to certain markets, not all stations have it (my local alt station said they didn't when i tweeted them about playing it, even though they are big AM supporters). it looks like the big push to make it chart will happen once it's officially released as a single.
I got the download from preordering the album, but I always freak out when there's a new song and need it on my phone stat. (I always buy multiple copies of his stuff when it's actually released though). I'm debating not listening to any other new stuff till the album drops though. The eternal struggle!

This music video was so much more than I expected it to be. It's absolutely incredible actually seeing Andrew in a different light. It baffles me how much this man has matured through my time listening to him. And not even so much as to how he has matured but how his music has followed him. We went from experiencing a high schooler just jamming out with some friends talking about the things that high schoolers go through. Then we started to delve into the harder parts of life that Andrew had to encounter, and now we are given sheer and utter joy of the life of his daughter. It's incredible that he allows us a glimpse into the part of his life. You can see just how proud he is to be a father just by watching this video. I have always been amazed by the kind of person Andrew is, but this tugged at my heart strings and made me appreciate him that much more.
